Indesit Washing Machines and Washer Dryers

• F10 – No cold fill. Check that the taps are on or if the drain hoses are kinked.
• F11 – No hot fill. The ambient temperature is likely to be below freezing possibly due to the pipes being
frozen. Also check that the taps are on or if the drain hoses are kinked.
• F12 – No mixed fill. It is likely that the water is not turned on at the taps.
• F13 – Check the water supply, inlet valve and hot and cold hose connections.
• F14 – A fault with the water heating has occurred.
• F15 – Water is not being pumped out and a flood condition could occur. Check that the drainage hose is
raised to the recommended minimum height and that the pipe is not blocked.
• F16 – Extremely high water level Disconnect or turn off the water supply and ensure that the water level
does not rise any more.
• F17 – Door not closed properly. Close door firmly at the 3 o’clock position.
• F20/1 – The thermistor resistance has drifted or the temperature scanning sequence is incorrect. The ambient temperature could be below freezing.
• F30/31 – A motor drive problem has occurred. Try running the programme again.
• F40 – Water below protection level during a heat step.
• F41 – Water level detect sequence incorrect.
• F50/51 – Customer language and wash programme have not been saved.
The system will run with default conditions (1000rpm max and English language). Book an indesit service engineer to reprogramme
your product.

Indesit washing machine WIXL163S – The water doesn’t seem to be getting hot. Door feels cold on a 60 wash and cloths don’t seem to be getting clean.
My mom & I have the same machine and are both having the same problem.
    Could there be a fault?

  6. Chris Ibbotson says:

I have an Indesit WIL103, put wash on but it had stopped when I had returned, Door lock light flashes fast, stain removal and extra rinse flash slowly, machine full of water. Switched it off, waited 1min and on again, manually setting drain program wouldnt work, setting any other wash program and the machine starts to draw in more water. Got it drained by removing outlet hose and draining water into a bucket, switched off power at wall and door lock eventually unlocked. Still 3″ of water in bottom of drum. Drain programme or rinse fail to start, door will lock and I can hear a click noise insie machine and a slight hum like its meant to be doing something but doesnt. Earlier when full of water attempting this would eventually make the aforementioned error lights flash after 5 mins but now it just seems to start the door unlock procedure and eventually reunlocks the door despite some water still present. I dont know whether to start a fresh 30min daily cycle though not looking forward to it freezing again when it should attempt to drain again as it takes about 5 large buckets to drain it. Any help would be greatly appreciated

  7. john says:

  8. Sylvia says:

I have an Indesit WIL 143UK that has developed a fault. When I try to wash on a tempeature above cool, it stops, pumps out and all the lights flash.

If I wash on any cool cycle the machine works perfectly. I have read on another website that it could be a fault on the heat sensor but I don’t want to call out an engineer if the problem is easily solved.

    hi
i have a indesit wil103 and would like some help in diagnosing what the problem might be. Can you help me please

  17. Vic Leversha says:

I have a WE14 now 7yrs in age but relatively little used. Always been trouble free until yesterday. The prob is water temperature. The wash I use is always No.9 (low temp)
then finish with The 10min spin.
I’ve tried changing prog. but the water remains cold. I’ve noticed the hot pipe stays cold despite my running it in the sink to high temp. Q1. When does the hot water connection operate? Q2. Do you think its the heater element failed and that has been the only means of hot supply to the tub all along?
Hope you can suggest where the fault lies and help this OAP living alone. Happy New Year for 20012

  19. Mags says:

Hi I have an indesit wia121 and on the spin cycle it makes an horrdenous loud noise, although it doesn’t appear to shake too much, the inside edge to the left of the circular round concrete part is, is rough, assuming the concrete is bashing against it. We changed the springs but the same applies, is it likely to be the shock absorber (damper) things or is there another reason. It washes fine. thanks

  25. Gordon Riley says:

    I own an Indestit WIDXL146 washer/drier. It’s about 4 years old.
Unfortunately although it seems to go through the wash cycle fine it stops there, still full of water without draining at all. It empties into the pipe under the sink and I’ve checked the U-bend and that is clear. The pipe empties into the drain outside and I don’t believe that is frozen.
Someone has asked if the filter is blocked but I am unsure exactly where that is or how to get to it.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
    Thanks, Gordon

  26. darren says:

my washing machine/dryer (wil123s) seems to stop at the end of its program cycle with only a small amount of water left in the machine but wont empty (the stain remover & extra rinse function button lights also flash)
If the drainage hose is block how do i get to it for removal?

  27. David Stewart says:

I have an Indesit WIL103. The problem is in the normal programes it wont change from the wash cycle to the rinse cycle. Also all the lights are flashing – the door close light flashing more rapidly than the rest of them. The only light that doesnt flash is the time delay. Any info on this problem would be gratefully recieved.

  28. Anita says:

I have a Indesit IWC 6165 S, it has stopped mid cycle with all the top row light flashing on the main panel, the clothes are still wet, so it seems that it is not draining, please can you help?

  29. birsebrae says:

I have a WIE147 washing machine, It keeps showing “test wash” even when off. Have tried reprogramming and have switched off at the plug, but when switched back on the “test wash” apears.

  30. or..just do what i just did with exactly the same fault code… follow the waste pipe behind the machine..mine was attached to the pipe under the sink. Put a bowl underneath, unscrew..pull out all the clogged up mush and foul smelling goodness knows what!! Put machine on to drain.. all water comes out..if your quick enough you can replace the pipe connection before the bowl is too full!!! then give it a rinse cycle to freshen the wash..and ta da!! Bobs your uncle x worked for me..19 years experience since i left home has taught me to try to fix these things myself before calling someone out.. 99 % of the time its something simple! xx

Indisit IWB5123 flash cotton wash not spinning.

  32. Dave Sykes says:

I have a simple problem with my Indesit IWC8148 washing machine (New in Jan 2012). It is not draining and I think there is a problem with grit in the pump filter. The instructions say to unscrew the lid to the pre chamber and clean. I cannot get the lid off. It unscrews through a half turn to a solid stop, releasing water and grit, but will not pull off or unscrew further. I don’t want to force it and break it. What am I doing wrong?

  33. Dean says:

Hi, I have an Indesit Wil143 and it has started to fail about 2 mins into a wash. After sending in cold water the drum rotates and it tries to send in more cold, but seems to falter there.
It flashes two led’s, 1+3 and the door LED. I have checked the filter, tray, hoses and everything seems in order. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

  34. JAYNE says:

I have the same fault with wie167 but in two minds one says it may be door interlock and the other it may be the board wondered if you could prove were fault was. did the interlock work.

  35. Gary Ibbetson says:

Hi, I have an Indesit WIL 130 which sticks in the wash cycle and will not advance through the drain and rinse/spin cycle unless I stop it and change the programme manually. i have removed the PCB and the program rotary connection doesn’t look in too bad a condition. Do tou think the fault will lie here or elswhere.
    Thanks.
    Gary.

  36. An intriguing discussion is worth comment. I do think that you ought to publish more on this subject matter, it may not be a taboo matter but generally people do not talk about these issues. To the next! Best wishes!!

  39. Alex says:

    Hi
Indesit IWB5113 fitted in terraced house ground floor.

Wash cycle starts with a very slow fill, it continues to fill until it appears to be over full, and then drains, it repeats this cycle and the 3h/wash indicator starts flashing along with the start/pause indicator.

I have turned off power to the machine and waited a several minutes before reconnecting, no change.

I have checked the machine is not pushed too far back, the drain is connected to an under sink trap connector (the machine has been working connected in this way for 6 months), I have tried running the machine with the drain detached and dangling in the sink and the same error repeats (I ensured max height was less than 1m).

The fill hose has not been modified since the machine was working properly, it does not have a kink in it and the tap is turned fully on, the same goes for the master stop cock.

I have tried running as rinse cycle which goes through 1 cycle of fill with slow rotation, then another fill (at this point I can just see the water level) and then it goes into increasing speed rotation and then spin, it then starts again and at the point of fill with slow spin the 3h / wash indicator starts flashing.

    Your thoughts are appreciated, thanks.

  40. Alex says:

    Update
Having noticed comments about Vacuum valve I thought I would give it a ‘clean’ on the off chance, what I discovered was a lot of rubber shavings, the vacuum hose has been rubbing against the side and worn away, I have found a couple of splits in it so I shall replace this (when I find a source) and hope that this cures the problem.
I will post a reply if it does fix the issue.
    Thanks

  41. Alex says:

    Hi
Replacing the Air Trap Hose as Indesit call it, has fixed the problem.

    Any ideas please?

  50. susan says:

I have a IWME126 model. It runs through programmes normally to start with and then it gets stuck on a slow spin which would go on forever if I did not switch it off. Hence the washing is quite wet when I remove. Also the inner drum seal is mouldy which I cannot wash off and washing smells.
I dont know whether to buy a new machine or risk pricey repairs. Machine is approx 4 years old.
    Thanks.
